Perry is Perry is a Chicago native who was she was born into Laurie Metcalf and Jeff Perry. Her first appearance was on television as Jackie Harris, a character that was played by her mother on the ABC sitcom Roseanne. Her parents, however, didn't want her to take on acting roles until she was an adult, fearing the effects of stress. Perry was shy in high-school and didn't act. The actress began her acting career at Northwestern University to gain friends when she moved to the university from Boston University. Perry started her acting career in New York after graduation, performing in minor parts in Law & Order: Criminal Intent. However, the feeling of homelessness made Perry come back to California to work as an actress in the theater. The Other Place was performed by her mother and her in 2013 on Broadway in 2013 In 2015, she starred together with Kevin McKidd alongside her mother in Eugene O'Neill's Pulitzer Prizewinning drama Anna Christie. Odyssey Theatre Ensemble Odyssey Theatre Ensemble is located in West Los Angeles. Perry starred in nine episodes in 2016 of the ABC drama The Family. In 2017, she had a minor role on the ABC political drama Scandal that starred her father. She also played the younger Mary Cooper in Young Sheldon which was a CBS spin-off from The Big Bang Theory. Despite her family link to the character she received the role via an audition.
